Stuart Lawson is a British photographer based in the south of France. After rekindling his photographic practice in 2015 through unique access to the Perm Ballet School, he developed a distinctive style focused on capturing movement, emotion, and the human presence. Working with dancers from the Bolshoi and Stanislavsky theatres, his series Dancer’s Soul established his reputation for expressive, motion-based imagery.
Now working from his studio in Hyères, Lawson’s practice has expanded to include portraits of artists, musicians, sportspeople, and local artisans, alongside ongoing projects in Uzbekistan exploring traditional dance. His work has been exhibited internationally, including in France, the UK, Germany, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Dubai. In early 2026, Lawson presented a successful solo exhibition, Metamorphoses, in London, curated by Nicolas Havette.
