BackStage

Kyoto, Japan
April 2026

Photographed backstage with the ballet companies of Perm and Stanislavsky, these images were made during extended sessions, often lasting up to ten hours. As presence replaced intrusion, the photographer became almost invisible, allowing moments to unfold naturally.
The result is an intimate view of ballet life—its discipline, its repetition, and its quiet, human reality beyond the stage.
