I’m a British photographer now based in France, specializing in capturing the grace, strength, and emotion of dancers, as well as creating compelling portraits, both formal and candid. Photography has been a lifelong passion, but it was only recently that I chose to turn this passion into a professional pursuit, expanding my portfolio with a deep commitment to my craft.
My journey took an unexpected turn nine years ago when I was living in Russia. A unique opportunity arose to photograph backstage at the Perm Ballet, one of Russia’s premier ballet companies. This experience, far from Moscow in the creative hub of Perm, sparked a shift in my work—from simple documentation to artistic direction. It led me from Perm to the iconic Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow, where I continued to explore the hidden world of ballet through my lens.
Since then, I’ve published two books that delve into the backstage life of ballet and have been fortunate to showcase my work in exhibitions across five countries. Upon relocating to France, I established Roche Noire Studio, where I continue to develop my vision, focusing on the elegance of movement and the art of portraiture.
